Types Of Memberships

  • Youth & Teen Memberships

    Youth/Teen memberships are available for youth/teens between 12-18 years.

    Youth/Teen members are entitled to the following benefits:

    • Members ages 12-18 have access to the gym during hours of operation
    • Youth/Teen members do not have guest privileges
    • Youth/Teen orientations are mandatory for all teens wishing to use the gym

    **Please note that a youth under the age of 12 may have a youth membership; however, it must be accompanied by an adult or senior membership. An example is a single parent, one adult and one youth.

  • Adult/Senior

    Adult membership is classified as any single member 19 years or older.

    Senior membership is classified as a single adult 65 years or older.

    As an adult or senior member with a gym membership, you are entitled to the following benefits:

    • Use of the gym during operating hours 
    • Member rates on all paid fitness programming

  • Family Membership

    A family membership consists of one or two adults and their dependents under the age of 24 who live with them or are on the primary member’s tax return. Senior parents who live at the same address and are declared on the primary adult’s income taxes may also be included on the membership.

    Members with family memberships are entitled to the following benefits:

    • Family members receive all previously mentioned adult and senior benefits

  • Silver Sneakers

    SilverSneakers are classified as those who are Medicare-eligible and have a participating supplement.

    • Use of the entire gym during all hours of operation
    • Free initial equipment orientation
    • Access to the pool’s open swim and lap swim time
    • You can also receive member rates on all paid gym and pool programs

  • Renew Active

    Renew Active is a fitness program exclusively through United Health Care.  It allows members to use the SPIRE Fitness Center during all hours of operation.  This includes the SPIRE gym and the SPIRE Recreation/Competition pool.

    You will need a Confirmation Code that you can obtain by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Member must bring code in, in order to sign up

Military and Adaptive Sports Training

Weekly Programming For Disabled Veterans

  • Program Goal

    We want to create a long-term impact for the Disabled Veterans in Northeast Ohio. 

  • Program Design

    • Individual and group strength training exercises from both ambulatory and wheelchair/chair level to promote fitness for life. 
    • Improving core strength, cardio, overall strength training and range of motion. 
    • Enhances body awareness focusing on balance and flexibility 
    • Post-workout meals provided 
    • Monthly nutritional options and healthy food choices
    • Opportunity to ask questions and socialize with peers

    As a result, these participants will be able to perform field events with improved techniques thus improving their abilities. They will gain better knowledge and understanding of lifting techniques and skills in order to use what they have learned, in their daily lives. The veterans have been able to increase their physical and mental health along with losing weight, gained confidence and gaining new friends. 

  • Types Of Injuries & Disabilities Served

    Our participants have the following injury/disability: knee amputations, traumatic brain injury, diabetes, spinal cord injury, PTSD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Multiple Sclerosis and has experience with many other injuries/disabilities.

  • Locations Served

    Ashtabula, Lake County, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, and Erie County, Pennsylvania

  • Program Times

    Due to the number of Disabled Veterans and their different levels of injury/disability, we have a program coach who designs and runs the program along with 2-3 assistant coaches helping each week. These coaches spend an hour or more helping with any of the sports they coach.

  • Program Successes

    46 Veterans this past year served from Northeast Ohio & Northwestern PA

    Participants in our program have competed in the Valor Games, Buckeye Wheelchair Games, National Veterans Wheelchair Games, and the Golden Age Games

  • Program Staff

    Demond Clark

    • Demond Clark developed a passion for fitness and athletic performance at a young age, competing in football, track and field, basketball, and wrestling before earning a Bachelor of Science in applied science with a concentration in exercise science from Youngstown State University. After serving as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and graduate assistant at SPIRE Performance, he earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and now applies his experience to help athletes reach their full potential.

Swim Lessons

SPIRE Academy has provided children and adults with positive swimming experiences for more than 12 years.  From infants and preschoolers to competitive swim programs for all ages, SPIRE is widely recognized for the quality of its aquatic activities.  Its facilities include a 50-meter Competition pool, the only Olympic length pool in the area, and a 25-yard Recreation pool allowing a 12-month schedule of lessons. 

Enrolling your child in one of our swimming programs can teach them to love swimming for a lifetime! We offer numerous levels of swim lessons for children and adults, including:
