Question 1

Tell me about the educational delivery model.

Accepted Answer

SPIRE Academy provides in-person, inquiry- and mastery-based learning. Students focus on group projects, presentations and other ways to demonstrate mastery of the curriculum. Teachers guide learning through engaging, hands-on activities, creative and critical thinking, and classroom dialogue.

Question 2

Do you offer day programs or only boarding?

Accepted Answer

SPIRE Academy offers a day-student option for local students who can commute to campus. Day students receive all the same benefits as boarding students but live at home instead of in SPIRE's Student Village.

Question 3

How good do I have to be in my sport?

Accepted Answer

SPIRE welcomes student-athletes at every level of ability. What they share is the drive, commitment, and desire to become better - both in their sport and in the classroom. From emerging competitors to elite athletes, SPIRE students arrive with diverse backgrounds and goals, united by a commitment to reach their next level, whether that means competing in college or pursuing their sport beyond.

Question 4

What does a day look like?

Accepted Answer

Every SPIRE student follows a schedule built around their sport, individual needs and goals. While every day includes academics, sport-specific performance, Mindset, Advisory and sport training, the timing and balance of these elements are intentionally customized. Coaches use sport-specific periodization to determine when and how often athletes train, with some training once and others twice a day, while performance work flexes throughout the week.

Question 5

Where do student-athletes live? Will I have a roommate?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you will have a roommate. Boarding students reside in SPIRE Village, where dorm living and the roommate experience are an important part of the SPIRE community. Living with others builds independence, strengthens communication and develops the real-world skills, relationships and confidence that extend well beyond the classroom and athletic arena.

Question 6

How does SPIRE assist with college planning and placement?

Accepted Answer

College planning starts freshman year and continues until each student reaches their next destination. SPIRE provides individualized guidance throughout the process, from identifying the right college fit and building relationships with coaches to navigating applications, the Common App and FAFSA. Every student discovers the universities where they can thrive academically, athletically and personally.

Question 7

Does SPIRE offer scholarships and financial assistance?

Accepted Answer

SPIRE offers financial assistance for families who qualify, reviewed case by case on academics, athletics, character and financial need. Families complete the Clarity financial aid application through admissions.

Question 8

Would a post grad year affect my NCAA eligibility?

Accepted Answer

No. A post graduate year does not typically affect four year NCAA eligibility. Before finalizing your commitment to SPIRE, consult with our Admissions team to understand how a post graduate year may affect your individual eligibility and athletic goals.
