We are excited to announce that after 4 years at SPIRE, Robert Bobroczkyi has signed with the Rochester University men’s basketball program. A native of Romania, Robert is the second tallest basketball player in the world, standing at 7’7”. During his time at SPIRE, he excelled in academics at Saint John Ashtabula High School in Ashtabula, Ohio. Prior to his time here, he commanded the court in Roma, Italy for amateur basketball club Stella Azura.

SPIRE basketball coach Dawud Abdur-Rahkman has nearly endless praise for Bobroczkyi, saying, “Robert is a rockstar! In my 25 years of coaching, I’ve never seen someone with such a sweet and pure stroke. When he’s in the paint, he cannot be stopped, period. He could be one of the greatest basketball stories ever told.”

Following back surgery late last year and its ensuing recovery period, “Rob Bob”, as his friends like to call him, is ready to don a Rochester Jersey and play the sport he loves.
