Title: Dean of Students
As a member of the Academy Leadership team, James serves as the chief disciplinary officer and directly oversees the student athlete’s experience in his role as Dean of Students. James also focuses on SPIRE’S commitment to holistic development of each student athlete that extends beyond the classroom, taking a campus wide approach through overseeing the formation of each student athlete’s day. He is tasked with maintaining the SPIRE WAY, driving a culture around SPIRE’S core values of scholarship, performance, inclusion, resilience and empathy. James brings a very diverse background to SPIRE in education, being a student athlete himself, transitioning to a classroom teacher and high school football coach, working in mental/behavioral health and spending the last six years in high school administration as an assistant principal at several different traditional high schools in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area.
