SPIRE Athletes To Compete on the International Stage at the 2025 Asian Youth Games

10/21/2025

Four SPIRE Academy swimmers are representing Mongolia next week at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.

Seniors Erkhes Enkhtur and Maral Batsanal, junior Amirlangui Ariunsukh, and freshman Yalguun Ariunsukh earned their spots on the national team by meeting international qualifying standards.

“It’s always exciting when our athletes compete on the world stage,” said SPIRE Aquatics Director and Head Coach Thad Schultz. “This is the next step for them, and it’s incredible to watch these swimmers get closer to their Olympic goals.”

Event Lineup:

  • Erkhes Enkhtur – 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke
  • Maral Batsanal – 50m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke
  • Amirlangui Ariunsukh – 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke
  • Yalguun Ariunsukh – 50m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke

Coach Schultz credited SPIRE’s academic-athletic structure for helping student-athletes stay on track, even during international travel. “At SPIRE, our athletes don’t have to choose between competition and academics. They can compete halfway across the world and still stay focused in the classroom. That balance is built into how we operate.”

Located in northeast Ohio, SPIRE has seen its international swimming presence grow significantly.  “Last year, we had one swimmer in this event,” Schultz said. “Now we have four. That’s a 400 percent increase and a sign of how far our program has come in just one year.”
