01/27/2026

SPIRE Academy’s John Robertson, 18, has earned selection to the Turks and Caicos Islands U20 National Team, marking a major milestone in his international soccer career.

Robertson’s selection places him among the top U20 athletes representing Turks and Caicos, recognizing his continued development and competitive performances at the national level. As a member of the U20 National Team, he will represent his country in upcoming international competitions, facing elite junior athletes from around the world.

The honor highlights both Robertson’s dedication to training and SPIRE Academy’s role in preparing athletes for success at the global level.

“I used to dream about playing in this tournament as a kid,” said Robertson. “This opportunity shows that all the hard work over the years has been worth it. It’s also a chance to compete in front of people who have never seen me play before. I couldn’t have done it without my family’s support, and I especially want to thank Coach Sean Lane — the time and belief he’s put into me means everything. I hope I’ve made them proud.”

“John has made tremendous strides since arriving at SPIRE,” said Coach Sean Lane. “Once we identified the right role for him, his coachability, versatility, and selfless mindset stood out. His attitude is first class, and he’s earned every bit of this recognition.”

“John embodies the SPIRE philosophy,” added Coach Paul Smalley. “He arrived in August 2025 and immediately committed to our development process. His consistency and growth led to his selection by Turks and Caicos through their international scouting outreach. This is what we’re about — identifying talent, creating opportunity, and helping athletes reach their next level.”

Robertson continues to train at SPIRE Academy as he prepares to represent Turks and Caicos on the international stage, aiming to build on this achievement and inspire others through his performance.
