The SPIRE Academy National Team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN, a milestone achieved following a statement victory over No. 8 Brewster Academy on January 19.
SPIRE’s win over Brewster, one of the most respected programs in prep basketball, served as a defining moment in the team’s rise to the top of the national rankings. Facing a top-10 opponent on a major stage, SPIRE controlled the game with defensive pressure, disciplined execution, and poise in key moments.
The ESPN ranking reflects a season marked by consistency against a demanding national schedule. SPIRE has repeatedly delivered against elite competition, showcasing depth, versatility, and the ability to dictate tempo on both ends of the floor.
“We are excited and proud of the HS Men’s Basketball National Team being ranked #1 in the country across multiple polls,” said Athletic Director Jeff Javorek. “This is the first time that SPIRE has achieved this ranking, and it is a testament to the hard work and effort of Coach Boyle, his staff and the players. This is an amazing accomplishment and the first of many for the men’s program with Coach Boyle at the helm.”
Beyond the result, the win reinforced SPIRE’s identity as a program built for high-level competition. The National Team’s commitment to detail and team-first basketball continues to separate it as the season moves toward its most critical stretch.
Now ranked No. 1 nationally by ESPN, SPIRE remains focused on execution and growth rather than external recognition. With marquee matchups still ahead, the National Team enters the next phase of the season with momentum and the challenge that comes with being the nation’s top-ranked program.
