Three SPIRE Academy track and field student-athletes have earned selection to represent their home countries at the 2026 CARIFTA Games, one of the Caribbean’s premier international competitions for junior athletes.
Jenna-Marie Thomas and Trevaughn Stewart secured their spots on the Trinidad and Tobago national team following standout performances at national trials this past weekend. Kadia Rock previously qualified and will represent Barbados at the Games.
The annual CARIFTA Games bring together the top under-17 and under-20 athletes from across the Caribbean. The meet has long served as a proving ground for future NCAA champions, World Championship competitors, and Olympians.
“This is a tremendous achievement for Jenna, Kadia and Trevaughn,” said SPIRE Track and Field Coach Kerron Stewart. “Earning the opportunity to represent your country is one of the highest honors in our sport. Their discipline and consistency throughout the season put them in position to succeed when it mattered most.”
SPIRE has a strong history of student-athletes competing at CARIFTA, with coaches and staff regularly traveling to support and cover the event. The Academy’s international roster and competition schedule continue to position athletes for opportunities on the global stage.
“I’m incredibly proud of these three,” said Coach Tim Mack. “Competing at CARIFTA requires not only talent, but composure under pressure. They stepped up in championship moments and earned their place. We’re excited to see them represent their countries and showcase the level of preparation they’ve built at SPIRE.”
With national team selection secured, Thomas, Stewart and Rock now shift their focus to preparing for international competition as they carry both their countries’ colors and SPIRE Academy onto one of the region’s biggest stages.
