Registration Open for Esports Summer Bootcamps at SPIRE Academy

SPIRE Academy, a collaboration between SPIRE IA (Institute/Academy) and the Museum of Future Sports, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for both on-campus and remote distance-learning for its Esports Summer Bootcamps in June and July.

Two separate weekly programs are offered: On-site boarding or non-boarding camp sessions take place on the campus of SPIRE Academy, a premier co-ed sports training facility in Geneva, Ohio, and online distance-learning sessions are attended remotely by campers in their homes via streaming technology, including daily workshops in game techniques, strategy, competitive mentality, management techniques and industry breakdown. No previous experience is required for the remote distance-learning Camp.

The brand-new state-of-the-art gaming facility at SPIRE currently nearing completion will serve as the training grounds for players to develop the skills needed to achieve their goals in gaming and esports.

Recommended for players with experience in League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant and Counter Strike, the esports program emphasizes college and professional career prep. Staffed by a team of professional esports coaches, analysts and players, experiences will be customized to each camper’s needs and areas of study and feature both group activities and one-on-one coaching.

“What we’re doing at SPIRE Esports Summer Bootcamp, says Rob Skinnion, SPIRE Director of Esports, “is providing a professional esports league environment and making it available to students who want to achieve more in their gameplay and careers. It’s not just about refining game talent; it’s about taking care of your mental and physical health, honing your professionalism, your marketability, and your ability to deal with adversity. At SPIRE, you will grow not only as a player, but as a professional.”

While no two days will be the same for the campers, there will be a daily focus on gameplay, team practice and video-playback reviews to learn how to be a better player and teammate. This will emulate a professional environment to best prepare campers for a collegiate esports experience or a career in the gaming industry. SPIRE Esports Summer Bootcamp will feature immersive training and competitions in a state-of-the-art esports arena, learning environment and custom-built casting/streaming production space.

“The skills these kids are learning while mastering esports are the same ones they’ll need to succeed in tomorrow’s workplace,” says Skinnion. “The esports program at SPIRE Academy prepares students for college and future careers at the same time they’re having fun and competing at the highest levels.”

Beginning Fall 2020, Spire Academy will offer a co-ed 9th-12th grade college prep boarding and daily high school program with an innovative curriculum delivery model featuring 4 hours per day of esports, drone and robotics curriculum, and traditional academics the remaining 4.5 hours of the day. This program provides each student with the experience, knowledge and toolset to pursue a professional career in technology, robotics and engineering through project-based, hands-on curriculum.

On-campus sessions and online sessions run June 14th – 20th, 21st – 27th, July 12th -18th and 19th – 25th.
