Recently, SPIRE Academy Lacrosse and Ball On Board joined forces and held a lacrosse clinic in the Netherlands during the 2024 Dutch Lacrosse Finals held in Wageningen. This has culminated in a successful partnership aimed at building up a shared, international athletic community and fostering talent development. Multiple fields were available for the finals and clinics given by SPIRE Lacrosse Director and Assistant Director, JD Harkey and Nakeie Montgomery. There was also an opportunity to attend a presentation to families interested in possibly having their kids attend SPIRE for summer camps or year-round academic and athletic programs. 

Brian Riesmeijer, the driving force behind Ball On Board (a program designed to help young, international athletes get into American schools and universities), shared his insights on the progression of the partnership’s progression telling us, “The union of SPIRE and Ball on Board began with a mutual vision to enhance opportunities for young athletes. Working alongside SPIRE has been a testament to their commitment to excellence and holistic athlete development.”

When asked about the significance of sending young athletes to SPIRE, Brian emphasized SPIRE’s comprehensive approach to character development and lifelong success, “What sets SPIRE apart from other athletic boarding schools is its commitment to both athletic and academic excellence, providing a balanced environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the field.”

Reflecting on the collaboration, he expressed, “Organizing this lacrosse event in collaboration with SPIRE has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It has allowed us to create unique opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and compete at a high level. This partnership not only enhances our offerings at Ball on Board but also strengthens our commitment to fostering talent and passion in sports. Moving forward, we look to continue building such impactful events that contribute significantly to the athletic community.”

The partnership’s primary focus is to attract campers and aspiring athletes to SPIRE through joint promotional efforts. The seamless synergy between SPIRE and Ball On Board promises a bright future for aspiring athletes around the world seeking elite training and the highest level of development opportunities available.
