SPIRE Academy Soccer Programs Build Momentum with College Commitments and Showcase Performances

03/06/2026

SPIRE Academy’s men’s and women’s soccer programs continue to gain momentum, highlighted by recent college commitments and strong showings at national showcases.

On the men’s side, several SPIRE student-athletes have secured opportunities to continue their careers at the collegiate level. Roy Mutimba and John Fue committed to NCAA Division II Ohio Dominican University, while James Mienke committed to NCAA Division I Le Moyne University. Shelter Bwaka will continue his career at Southwestern Christian University, one of the top NAIA programs in Oklahoma. The commitments reflect the continued progression of SPIRE’s men’s program and its consistent pipeline to the next level.

The women’s program also delivered a strong performance in Indianapolis, earning three wins against quality opposition. SPIRE posted victories of 2-0, 1-0, and 8-1, including wins over two ranked ECNL teams. The weekend generated meaningful interest from college coaches in attendance, with multiple programs beginning conversations with SPIRE players about future opportunities.

SPIRE’s U19 women’s team also competed at the Capelli Sport Showcase in Arizona, where a young roster continued to show promise. With an average age of 16.5, the group competed against older opposition and produced several strong results. SPIRE opened with a 2-2 draw against SC Del Sol before earning a 6-1 win over NW Elite. The team later fell 3-1 to MN Thunder and closed the event with a 1-1 draw in a rematch against MN Thunder.

“We are incredibly proud of the continued growth and development of both our men’s and women’s soccer programs at SPIRE Academy,” said Sean Lane, director of soccer. “What makes our environment special is the commitment to developing the complete student athlete — technically, tactically, physically and academically. Each year we see more of our players move on to what’s next, whether that’s competing at the collegiate level or pursuing professional opportunities. The momentum around the program continues to build, and it’s exciting to see the impact our coaches and players are making every day.”

The results across both programs reflect SPIRE Academy’s ongoing commitment to developing student-athletes and preparing them for success at the collegiate and professional levels, supported by a world-class campus and integrated academic and athletic model
