SPIRE Academy goalkeeper Samuel “Sammy” Harvey has signed with Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders at just 16 years old, marking a major step in his development and a proud moment for his home country of Turks and Caicos.

Harvey has quickly become one of the Caribbean’s most promising young players. His athleticism, technical ability, and mature presence in goal have earned attention from professional scouts and national team evaluators. His move to Seattle represents both a personal milestone and a reflection of the region’s expanding footprint in global football.

Harvey credits SPIRE Academy and goalkeeper coach Paul Smalley for helping accelerate his path to the professional level.

“Paul Smalley reached out and helped me get these opportunities with the Seattle Sounders, and he and the staff have done a great job guiding me toward the professional level,” Harvey said.

“Going to the Seattle Sounders is making me realize this is becoming less of a dream and more of a reality, and being able to take that next step into what I want to do and excel in my career, I think it’s a really big jump,” Harvey said. “But because of all the training and work I put into being here at SPIRE Academy and back home in Turks and Caicos as well, I think I’ll be ready for it and with whatever challenge comes my way.”

Harvey now enters one of MLS’s most respected youth development systems. Seattle has a strong track record of advancing players through its academy and into first-team opportunities, giving Harvey a clear pathway as he works toward his professional debut.
