WHY SPIRE CAMPS?

Every year, athletes from around the world choose to train at SPIRE Academy. Now you too can train on campus within academy-inspired co-ed, boarding and non-boarding camps at SPIRE.

Athletes can choose from a variety of sport program options for different durations and focused on various specialties. Camps are available for all ages, genders and abilities.

SPIRE Camps are an experience you will never forget. Here’s why:

  • #1 OUR TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE FOCUSED
ON EVERYONE

Whether you’re trying out for your school team or training for the Olympics – what’s important is that you are getting better and steadily developing while following the customized path you established to reach your individual goals.

  • #2 SPIRE TRAINS THE WHOLE ATHLETE

There is more to becoming a champion than just improving skills and polishing technique. SPIRE provides physical, and mental performance training with nutrition and hydration guidance, as well as sports-specific training/competition programming in girls and boys basketball, drone racing, esports, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, track and field and wrestling.

  • #3 BE A PART OF MORE THAN A CAMP

SPIRE is a community 12 months of the year. Everyone on campus is fully invested in training athletes and building strong individuals year-round. Our community The SPIRE Family foster a passion for the game, a passion for improvement, and a passion for long-term athletic development.

  • #4 SPIRE IS ONE OF A KIND

Constructed on 800 acres of expansive land, at 750,000 square feet, SPIRE is among the largest and best-equipped indoor sports facilities in North America. SPIRE Academy serves as a national/international college preparatory academy for high school and postgraduate athletes. SPIRE’S experienced coaching staff conducts academy, camp, club, skill development programs and/or league play in a wide variety of sports. SPIRE also hosts countless sports competitions including those organized by the NCAA, the Big East, the Big Ten and the Atlantic 10 conferences. Spire has also hosted Olympic trials and world championship qualifiers.

THE SPIRE WAY

At SPIRE, athletes become physically stronger, faster, more flexible and agile with increased endurance. They also become well-educated, confident, motivated, self-disciplined human beings who thrive under pressure and are ready to tackle the world. This combination represents the true impact of the SPIRE Way!

  • Do campers have roommates in the dorm houses? How do you assign roommates?

Yes, campers will be sleeping with up to 3 other individuals in a room. Occupancy varies from week to week but the dorms are mostly full during the summer. Our Residence Life department assigns campers to rooms based on criteria: by gender, by age, by sport. Dorm houses are not co-ed and we will assign roommates within the same age and in most cases by the same sport. Assignments are subject to change.

You will first indicate any use of prescription medications on your camper health forms & waivers at the time of registration.  Upon checking in for camp, our team can speak with you about the storage and administration of the medication.  In most cases, campers are permitted to manage their own medication as long as it’s an over-the-counter medication or not deemed a controlled substance.  Our school nurse is able to store medication in a locked cabinet and provide any assistance necessary.

  • What happens if my child gets injured or becomes ill at camp?

    • Any camper that becomes ill at camp has support to ensure they are cared for.  Campers should alert their coach, RA, or any camp staff member about their illness so our team can have the school nurse evaluate and monitor your child.  Should their illness require more than over-the-counter medication or additional attention, we can transport them to the nearest emergency services located less than 10 minutes from SPIRE.
    • Injuries incurred during camp should be reported to a coach, RA, or any camp staff member immediately so we can take appropriate action.  Our staff of athletic trainers will be on-site during the camp to help diagnose any injuries and recommend a plan for treating the injury.  Any injuries that require further evaluation by an orthopedic doctor or need x-ray will result in a visit to the nearest emergency room.
    • With any injury or illness, the parent/guardian listed in the camper’s waivers/forms will be contacted and provided with all the details surrounding the incident.
  • My child has a food allergy or dietary restriction. How do you accommodate this?

Please indicate any known food allergies and dietary restrictions on your child’s registration form. This information is shared with our kitchen staff prior to camp. We also encourage campers to remind food service staff of any allergies when being served.
